LCU HIGHLIGHTS
• Lubbock Christian University fell in their final preseason contest Saturday evening in a 3-0 result on the road against Wayland Baptist University.
• Despite making it to the halftime mark at a 1-0 deficit, the Chaparrals conceded a pair of goals in the second period just three minutes apart.
• LCU registered six shots for the evening, five of which came inside the opening half.
• Freshman keeper Braxton Thorne came up early and often totaling eight saves for the game, six of which were provided in the first period.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Wayland found the net in the 11th minute after a one-on-one situation with LCU's Thorne. Wayland's Luis Almeida drew out the Lubbock Christian goalkeeper and was able to find the net to put WBU up 1-0.
• Chris Eduardo hopped in the score column next for the Pioneers capitalizing off of a deflection from 10 yards out.
• Two minutes later, Ricardo Ramos tucked away a free kick from 30-yards away to conclude the game's scoring plays.

GAME NOTES
• Though the teams were able to make it through a majority of the contest, a nearby lightning strike forced the referees to call the game at the 76-minute mark.
• Although the contest served as a regular season-opener for the Pioneers, it was simply another exhibition contest for the Chaparrals.
• Wayland Baptist came into the evening ranked as the NAIA's No. 1 ranked program following a National Championship in the 2017 season.
