HOW IT HAPPENED
• Senior,
Louis Callaghan struck first with a free kick at the end of the opening period for the Chaparrals. Callaghan tucked the set piece into the lower left corner past UCCS's Scott Jensen at the 44:07 mark.
• Corey Carabajal put the Mountain Lions on the board with a header on a free kick from Tankred Steinbach with 18:33 left to play in regulation.
• At the 94:23 mark, Corey Carabajal once again found the net for UCCS on a cross at the six-yard box from Alex Von Holle
GAME NOTES
• LCU forced the Mountain Lions into extra time with the match at a 1-1 stalemate following 90 minutes of play.
• Lightning strikes within the area forced the referees to halt the game prior to the overtime period.
• The Chaps were forced to play a man down for a majority of the contest as
Ivan Muanze-Bengono was shown a red card at the 9:51 mark.

LCU will now make their way to Lakewood, Colo. for a tilt against Colorado Christian University. Kickoff against the Cougars is set for 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 2 (Central) at Trailblazer Stadium. The two programs have met just once before in the 2015 season where LCU provided a 5-1 victory (Sept. 11, 2015).
