Chap Attack Explodes In Huge Road Victory

LCU HIGHLIGHTS
• Lubbock Christian University improved to a 1-1 record Sunday afternoon with a statement road win over Colorado Christian University.
Tariq Bakkali bagged a pair of goals in the victory while accounting for four of LCU's eight shots for the day.
Cade Von Heimburg, Conner Dean and Louis Callaghan each provided an assist in the victory.
Braxton Thorne collected his first shutout as a Chaparral while making a pair of saves.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Dean struck first for LCU with a 20-yard rip following a pass from Callaghan in the 32nd minute of play.
• Bakkali stepped up next in the 44th minute on a long ball from Dean that beat the CCU defense. Bakkali then proceeded to beat the Cougar goal keeper in a 1-on-1 situation for an open-net goal.
• Von Heimburg got in on the action just before the halftime whistle taking advantage of a loose ball at the top of the 18-yard box.
Marcelo Pacheco made his way into the scoring column at the 71:33 mark with a goal from inside the box that found the right side of the net. He was assisted on the play by Von Heimburg
• Bakkali closed out his afternoon with an unassisted goal in the 84th minute. The freshman capitalized on a misplay by the CCU keeper.

GAME NOTES
• The win closes out a two-game road stint for the Chaparrals in their opening weekend.
• Three of their five goals were recorded in the opening half of play.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
5: LCU's five-goal performance marks their largest victory since the 2013 season where they defeated McMurry University 6-1 (Oct. 26, 2013)

UP NEXT
Lubbock Christian will now look ahead toward their home-opener against Southern Nazarene University Saturday, Sept. 8. Kickoff against the Storm is scheduled for 3 p.m.
