THE BASICS
Score: Lubbock Christian 1, St. Edward's 1
Records: LCU – 6-4-1, 3-2-1 // SEU – 6-4-1, 5-0-1
Location: Lewis-Chen Family Field – Austin, Texas

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • St. Edward's opened the scoring in the game early, as Sarah Preston netted a goal off a corner kick
  • The Hilltoppers put another shot on goal in the 28th minute, but Tory Hudgens made the save, and another SEU shot was cleared by a Lady Chap defender in the 29th minute
  • LCU's first scoring chance came two minutes into the second half, as Celia Duarte missed wide right with a shot. Hollie Windham also missed wide right with a shot in the 59th minute
  • Duarte also had the first Lubbock Christian shot on goal, which came in the 69th minute, but it was saved by SEU goalkeeper Annabel Sweeney
  • The Lady Chaps finally broke through with a goal from Duarte in the 75th minute. Shadiana Haney recorded the assist on the score
  • Reagan Dykes put a shot on goal in the first overtime, but goalkeeper Hannah Wise made the save
  • Wise made another two saves in the second overtime, keeping the Hilltoppers off the board and preserving the draw

LCU HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Lady Chaps faced a season-high nine shots on goal, but allowed just the one St. Edward's score
  • Defender Shadiana Haney's assist was her second of the 2019 season. The other came in the October 3 win over Texas Woman's
  • Hannah Wise made six saves in just 80 minutes in goal and has now stopped more than five shots on goal in back-to-back games
  • Duarte's goal was her sixth of the season, putting her into a tie for the team lead. It was her first goal since the September 22 win over UT Permian Basin

LADY CHAP NOTES
  • The tie gave Lubbock Christian their 10th point in conference play this season, which currently slots them in fifth place in the league standings
  • LCU had not previously ended a game in a tie this season or at all last season, as their last draw was against Rogers State on October 26, 2017 (0-0)
  • Duarte is now tied for first in the Lone Star Conference in points with 17. Teammate Haley Knesek is the only other league player with the same amount
  • The tie ended a five-match win streak for St. Edward's, who had not lost or tied since falling to Angelo State in double overtime on September 21
  • LCU's goals per game average dropped to 2.636 with just one score against the Hilltoppers, but that number is still good for second in the LSC

NEXT UP
  • The Lady Chaps will return home for a two-game slate, starting with Thursday's 3 p.m. matchup against St. Mary's at the LCU Soccer Field
