HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Rattlers applied early pressure, putting on of their two total shots on goal in the sixth minute, but it was stopped by Lady Chap goalkeeper Hannah Wise
- LCU took over on offense with five shots in the next ten minutes, including shots on goal by Delila Salmeron and Allison Scott that were saved
- St. Mary's' had their best scoring chance of the game, as Alexis Lawrence fired at the lower left corner, but Wise got a hand to it to push it wide
- Hailey Phipps fired a shot at the left side of the goal that was just stopped, and Carmen Herndon tried put the rebound in, but the St. Mary's keeper just got a foot to it for a kick save
- LCU's first scoring chance of the second half came from Arely Jimenez, but it was again saved
- The Lady Chaps created a number of other offensive chances, including shots on goal from Allison Scott in the 58th, 60th, 73rd and 83rd minutes
- Maddie Hoel served in corner kick in the 85th minute and Haley Knesek headed it home, scoring the game's only goal
- St. Mary's took only one more shot in their quest to tie up the game, but it missed left
LCU HIGHLIGHTS
- Allison Scott's seven shots and five shots on goal were both season-highs for the junior forward
- LCU's 27 shots were their second-highest total in a single game this season, trailing only the 31 they tallied against UT Permian Basin on September 22
- Six different Lady Chaps recorded shots on goal in the win
- Hannah Wise recorded her fourth shutout of the season in the win, which is the second most of any Lone Star Conference goalkeeper
- Freshman Maddie Hoel's assist on the Knesek goal was the third point she has recorded in her collegiate career
LADY CHAP NOTES
- At 5"1, Haley Knesek is the third shortest listed player on the LCU roster, behind only Adrienne Almodova and Stephanie Renteria (5"0), but she still got to the header to win the game
- The Lady Chaps are now 7-1 this season when scoring first in a game
- Knesek's score moved her into first on the team and in the Lone Star Conference in goals this season with seven and also in points with 19
- The goal in the 85th minute was the second-latest one that LCU has scored in 2019, only behind an 86th minute goal in September 28 win at UT Tyler
- LCU took 10 corner kicks in the game, reaching double digits in that category for the first time since the September 22 win over UT Permian Basin
