Early Goals Lead LCU Past TWU

Lady Chaps Remain Undefeated in LSC Play

THE BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Lubbock Christian took control of the game early with a goal in the 10th minute. Allison Scott scored with assists by Hollie Windham and Haley Knesek
  • The Lady Chaps doubled up just over three minutes later, as Knesek scored a goal assisted by Maddie Hoel and Shadiana Haney
  • Knesek went for her second goal of the game in the 26th minute, but had it saved by TWU keeper Daniela Marin. There were no more scoring chances in the first half
  • The Lady Chaps pressed offensively to start the final half, recording four shots and finaly earning a penalty kick, but it was saved by Marin
  • The Pioneers got their first shot on goal of the game in the 64th minute, as Abigail Martinez put one on frame that was saved by Hannah Wise
  • Celia Duarte took a shot from inside the 18-yard box and put it on frame, but it was again saved
  • TWU finally broke through in the 84th minute as Haley Ward scored a goal assisted by Maddy Harper
 
LCU HIGHLIGHTS
  • Haley Knesek took control of the team lead in both points and goals. She has now scored six times and assisted on five other goals for 17 total points
  • Allison Scott's goal was her fifth of the season, giving the Lady Chaps three different players with at least five goals this year
  • LCU outshot TWU 14-5 during the game, including 5-2 in shots on goal
  • Duarte, Knesek and Scott all recorded four shots during the game to tie for the team lead

  LADY CHAP NOTES
  • Goalkeeper Hannah Wise made one save in the game and is now tied for the all-time Lubbock Christian record in that category
  • The Lady Chaps have won six straight games, marking their longest win streak since 10/1 to 10/17 of 2015, when they also won six straight games
  • LCU has limited five straight opponents to five or fewer shots on goal. The last opponent to record more than five was Southwestern Oklahoma State, who had six
  • Knesek leads the Lone Star Conference with 17 points and is tied for the league lead with her six goals
  • Lubbock Christian is the conference leader in assists per game with four a contest
NEXT UP
  • The Lady Chaps will play once more at home this weekend, taking on Dallas Baptist at 1 p.m. on Satuday at the LCU Soccer Field
