Chaps Look to Bounce Back Against Eagles

CHAPARRAL HEADERS
  • Lubbock Christian forward Fernando Flores scored his seventh goal of the season on Thursday, tying him for the Lone Star Conference lead
  • LCU is one of five conference teams to still be averaging more than two goals per game so far this season
  • Tariq Bakkali recorded an assist on a goal from Pablo Galietero Diez on Thursday, becoming the 10th different Chap to assist on a goal this season
  • Flores and Diez both rank in the top 10 in the conference in shots, averaging 3.50 and 2.17 per game, respectively
  • Of the 21 players who have seen time on the field this season for Lubbock Christian, 16 have tallied at least one shot on goal, including 10 with multiple
 
WHAT TO WATCH FOR
  • Jonathan Woods remains the only LCU field player to be in the game for every minute so far this season
  • Chap opponents have score 12 goals against them this season for an average of 1.50 goals against per game
  • LCU's loss on Thursday was their first on their home field since September 29, 2018. After that loss more than a year ago, they bounced back with a road win over then- No. 23 West Texas A&M
  • The Chaps scored just their fourth first-half goal of the season on Thursday, but added another in the second half has well. Of their league-third 17 goals this season, 13 have come in the last 45 minutes of play
  • Lubbock Christian has the fourth-most shots on goal per game in the conference with 6.63
 
SCOUTING OC
  • The Eagles have the lowest scoring margin that is still positive in the Lone Star Conference, averaging just .28 goals per game more than their opponents
  • OC has beaten three opponents that the Chaps also took down, topping Southern Nazarene 1-0, Oklahoma Baptist 2-1 and UT Permian Basin 5-0. OC also suffered a loss to Midwestern State
  • Offense has been spread evenly for the Eagles, with nine different players having scored goals through just eight games
  • David Scott is one of the longest-tenured men's soccer coaches in the Lone Star Conference, now in his 14th season with the Eagles
  • OC goalkeeper Anthony Trabichet has a save percentage of .800, but allows an average of 1.403 goals per game
 
THE SERIES WITH THE EAGLES
Lubbock Christian and Oklahoma Christian have met once in every season since 2010 except for 2012. The Chaps hold the edge in those eight games, winning five to just two losses and one tie in 2017. LCU was the winner in each of the first four meetings, but has won only once in the last four.
