HOW IT HAPPENED
- Eastern New Mexico's offense came out firing, putting three shots on goal in the game's first 16 minutes, but LCU goalkeeper Braxton Thorne saved them all
- Thorne stopped another shot in the 33rd minute, but neither team created much in the way of offense for the remainder of the first half, and the two teams were knotted at 0-0 going into the final 45
- Caram Carneiro Alves created LCU's first offensive scoring chance quickly in the second half, but missed high with his shot
- ENMU broke the scoreless tie with a goal from Emil Powles in the 67th minutes
- LCU earned a corner kick in the 71st minute and Carneiro Alves took another shot but missed wide left this time
- Powles scored his second goal of the day in the 74th minute to give Eastern New Mexico their 2-0 lead, and the Greyhounds closed out the win by that score
LCU HIGHLIGHTS
- Thorne set a new career-high in the match with eight saves, even though he suffered his sixth loss of the season. The Lubbock native now has 61 saves on the season
- Carneiro Alves had LCU's only two shots in the game, bringing the freshman's total to 14 for the year
CHAPARRAL NOTES
- Lubbock Christian had already clinched a spot in the Lone Star Conference Tournament prior to Saturday's loss and will take on a to-be-determined first round opponent on the road on Tuesday
- LCU was shut out for the first time since September 20
- The Chaps' nine wins this season are tied for their most ever since Paul Gilbert took over the coach duties in 2016
- Eastern New Mexico now holds a 7-4 advantage in the all-time series with Lubbock Christian
