Lady Chaps Set Program Record for Wins in a Season

THE BASICS
Score: Lubbock Christian 3, Eastern New Mexico 1
Records: LCU - 13-4-1, 10-2-1 / ENMU - 8-8-1, 5-8-0
Location: LCU Soccer Field – Lubbock, Texas

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Haley Knesek tried to keep up the Lady Chap trend of scoring in the first 15 minutes, putting a shot on goal at the 4:05 mark, but it was saved by the Greyhound goalkeeper
  • Hollie Windham and Victoria Ramirez also had shots saved in the early goings before Arely Jiminez found the back of the net in the 24th minute. Her goal was assisted by Knesek and Allison Scott
  • Knesek and Carmen Herndon both had shots on goal in the first half after the score, but both were saved and the halftime score was 1-0
  • Scott doubled the Lady Chap lead just over a minute into the second half, with an unassisted goal
  • The third and final goal of the game came from LCU's leading scorer Knesek in the 55th minute and was assisted by Windham
  • Lubbock Christian possessed the ball for much of the final 35 minutes of play and did not allow any more ENMU shots. The only two remaining LCU shots on goal came from Herndon and were saved

LCU HIGHLIGHTS
  • Lubbock Christian set a new program record, collecting their 13th win of the season. The previous record was 12, set in 2012, which was head coach Alex Denning's first year
  • Scott led the team with five shots, but Knesek and Herndon put the most shots on goal with three apiece
  • With three goals in the game, the Lady Chaps increased their season total to 46, which is the third most in a single season ever by an LCU team. The program record is 50, which was set in 2012
  • The Lady Chaps did not allow a single shot on goal in the game, marking the fourth time this season that they have done so. Their goals against average is now down to .89

LADY CHAP NOTES
  • Knesek's goal was her 12th of the season, setting a new single-season high for herself. The last time an LCU player scored more than that in one season was 2014, when Brooke Wendl had 14 and Claudia Sanchez scored 13
  • Scott scored one goal and assisted another, posting her fourth straight game of three points. The last game in which she did not tally a point was the October 24 win over Midwestern State
  • Lubbock Christian's .89 goals against average is currently the lowest single-season mark ever posted in program history. The previous record was .90, which was set in 2017
  •  Knesek's three-point game also kept her on top of the league point standings, now with 31 on the year. The next-closest person to her in the point standings, however, is teammate Allison Scot with 29. Third place is WT's Khaline Jacob with a distant 21 points
  • LCU now has eight shutouts this season, which is tied for the second most in a season in program history. The only season with more was 2017 when they had 10
  • Jiminez's goal was her second this season, making her the eighth different Lady Chap to have scored multiple times
  • Lubbock Christian has scored two or more goals 12 times this season and walked away with the win in every one of those games
  • Windham, Scott and Knesek all recorded assists in the win and are all in a tie for second on the team with seven each. Celia Duarte is the team-leader with eight
