Turning Point:
RSU trailed 5-2 in the top of the third inning and had Allie McFetridge at the plate representing the tying run with one out. Carlton forced her into a 4-6-3 double play to end the inning and end the threat.

How it Happened:
  • RSU manufactured the opening run of the game in the top of the first inning. Tailee Reding drew a walk and was advanced to second base on a sacrifice bunt by Mikayla Waggnor. Reding would score on a Danelle Day single through the left side.
  • LCU wasted no time responding to their 1-0 deficit in the home half of the first inning. Savannah Wysocki led off with a one-hopper to the left field fence for a double and Lindzi Clemmer followed with a two-run home run for a 2-1 lead.
  • The Lady Chaps added to the lead in the second inning with Logan Grado crushing a solo home run over the left field fence. Alexa Riggs and Lindzi Clemmer each singled, setting up a two-out two-run double to right field by K'leigh Arredondo for a 5-2 lead.
  • RSU attempted to rally back in the top of the third inning until McFetridge's double play hit into. She was the third of an eventual 11 straight hitless RSU batters to step into the batter's box.

 Inside the Numbers:
  • LCU improved to 6-9 this season when the opposition scores first (6-6 when their opponents score in the first inning) and 19-3 when they score in the first inning (also 19-3 when they lead after the first inning).
  • Seniors K'leigh Arredondo, Lindzi Clemmer, Megan Darling, Morgan Dufour, Logan Grado and KK Lopez-Liu combined to go 7-for-19 (.368) in the game with three doubles, two home runs and they accounted for all five RBI. They were honored in a postgame ceremony, which included a group prayer including the RSU players and the Lady Chaps presented flowers to RSU's senior members.
  • The game was the final conference game between the two teams, as LCU heads to the Lone Star Conference and RSU heads to the MIAA next season.  RSU falls to 2-19 all-time in Lubbock.
