LAREDO, Texas (April 27, 2019) – Lubbock Christian University was three outs away from claiming the No.3-seed at the Heartland Conference Tournament, but Texas A&M University took advantage of LCU's fifth error of the game and scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to walk-off a 5-4 win over the Lady Chaparrals Saturday afternoon. The loss has LCU entering next week's Heartland Conference Tournament as the No.4-seed of the five-team tournament, which will be hosted by St. Mary's, who claimed the No.1-seed as the regular season co-champions of the conference.

In the top of seventh inning, TAMIU was able to get the winning run to third base with one out and an infield error allowed Morgan Chavarria, the winning run, to score from third base.
How it Happened:
- LCU took the opening lead of the game in the second inning with an RBI-double by Breanna Anderson allowing Alivia Villarreal to score for a 1-0 advantage.
- Shelby Edwards and Lindsey Smith produced back-to-back solo home runs in the bottom of the second inning to gie TAMIU their first lead of the game.
- With the top of the order due up, LCU led off the third inning with a base hit by Savannah Wysocki, who would end up scoring on a single from KK Lopez-Liu to tie the game at 2-2. They made it 4-2 with a two-out single by Villarreal, which scored a pair of runs.
- Two LCU errors allowed TAMIU to score a run in the bottom of the sixth inning and it was followed in the seventh inning with another costly error, which ended the game.

- LCU fell to 22-6 this season when scoring first and 23-3 when out-hitting their opponents. LCU entered the series 22-1 this season when out-hitting their opponents and their two losses in the TAMIU series came when out-hitting them.

LCU heads to San Antonio, Texas to the Heartland Conference Tournament as the No.4-seed. They will play two games on Thursday, May 2, beginning with an 11 a.m. contest against No.5-seed Texas A&M International, marking the fourth consecutive game between the two teams. LCU was eliminated by TAMIU last season at the tournament. The Lady Chaps and Dustdevils are expected to play at 11 a.m. Thursday.
