LCU Highlights:
Turning Point:
In the top of the seventh inning and no outs recorded, TAMIU's Lindsey Smith lined into a double play, which led to the tying run at first base doubled up on the play.

How it Happened:
  • TAMIU took the opening run with an unearned run scoring off a single by Smith for a 1-0 lead in the first inning.
  • Savannah Wysocki led off the bottom of the first inning with a single and scored throwing error committed of a ground ball hit by Lindzi Clemmer. The run was the first of three scoring in the inning, as K'leigh Arredondo scored on a bases loaded walk and Megan Darling scored on a wild pitch for a 3-1 lead.
  • Arredondo drew another bases loaded walk for an RBI in the second inning, as RBI-singles by KK Lopez-Liu and Alivia Villarreal helped LCU extend their lead to 6-1 with another three-run inning.
  • The Dustdevils responded with a sequence of four straight runs scored, with three scored in the fifth inning. Doubles by Smith and Maddison Schofield helped spark the three-run inning to cut LCU's lead to 6-5.
  • Amber Carlton pitched the final 2.2 innings for LCU and claimed the save (her third), holding TAMIU to just two hits. She struck out three of the nine batters faced.

 Inside the Numbers:
  • For a third straight meeting this season between the two clubs, the losing team out-hit the winning team. LCU is now 4-12 when being out-hit by their opponent this season.
  • TAMIU went through four pitchers, with Miranda Martinez (3.2) the only pitcher to surpass 1.1 innings.
  • LCU was 2-for-4 with the bases loaded in the game, as KK Lopez-Liu and Alivia Villarreal each were 1-for-1 in bases loaded at bats. K'leigh Arredondo also walked twice with the bases loaded.
  • Lindsey Smith had been 3-for-3 in the game before lining out into the double play in the seventh inning to place her 4-for-3 in the contest.
  • Jordan Wehr allowed two earned runs off 10 hits in 4.1 innings to record the win for LCU (12-5). She improved to 3-0 this season against TAMIU.
  • LCU improved their all-time record to 8-4 in Heartland Conference Tournament play.
  • LCU moved to 7-7 in one-run games. The win in a one-run result ended a streak of six consecutive one-run decisions resulting in LCU losses.
