HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The scoring started early for the Lady Chaps, as they found the back of the net just two minutes and 28 seconds into the game. It was Hollie Windham who scored the goal, with assists coming from Victoria Ramirez and Celia Duarte
  • LCU doubled up on SWOSU just six minutes later with Allison Scott scoring on a header that was sent into the box by Delila Salmeron
  • Lubbock Christian continued to play in its offensive third throughout the rest of the half, racking up another 14 shots, including three more on goal, before the horn sounded for halftime
  • After making just one save in the first half, LCU goalkeeper Tory Hudgens stopped two shots in the first 10 minutes of the second half to keep the Bulldogs off the board
  • Hudgens made two more saves in the 64th and 68th minutes before a called handball in the box allowed for a SWOSU penalty kick, which was converted by Sandra Nabweteme
  • LCU came close to regaining its two-goal lead with back-to-back shots in the 80th minute, but both were saved
  • The Lady Chaps posessed the ball for much of the final 10 minutes and held onto their lead for the first win of the season

LCU HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Lady Chaps earned their first win of the 2019 season and are now 1-2 to start the year. They also started with a 1-2 record last year
  • Tory Hudgens made her first start in goal of the season and just the third in her career. The New Braunfels native made five saves in the win
  • Allison Scott led the team with three shots on goal, while Hollie Windham followed with two of her own
  • Freshman Delila Salmeron saw her first collegiate action in the game, playing 45 minutes and tallying her first collegiate point with the assist on Allison Scott's goal

LADY CHAP NOTES
  • Lubbock Christian is now 1-1 all time against Southwestern Oklahoma State
  • LCU's last time to score multiple goals in one game was in a 6-0 win against Oklahoma Christian on October 25 last season. The last time they tallied exactly two goals in a game was September 15 of last year, when they beat Newman 2-1
  • Lady Chap goalkeeper Tory Hudgens is now 2-1 in goal during her collegiate career with 15 total saves
  • Allison Scott's goal proved to be the difference in the game, marking the sixth time in her LCU career that she has netted the game-winner
  • Lubbock Christian started its 2019 home slate 1-0 with the win. They have never been below .500 at home under head coach Alex Denning (2012-present)

NEXT UP
  • The Lady Chaps will play at home again in less than a week, taking on former Sooner Athletic Conference rival Wayland Baptist at 4 p.m. September 20 at the LCU Soccer Field
