HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both Lubbock Christian and Saint Martin's put shots on goal in the first 15 minutes that were saved by Braxton Thorne and Dylan Shaw
- On the Saints' fourth shot on goal, they finally broke the scoreless tie. Brandon Madsen headed a cross into the back of the net in the 37th minute
- LCU came out of the halftime break with pace, firing off five shots and earning a pair of corners in the first five minutes before Abdou Joof found the back of the net to even the score at 1-1 in the 51st minute
- Madsen put the Saints back on top in the 57th minute with his ninth score of the season
- SMU scored off a corner kick in the 72nd minute to build a two-goal lead
- Richie Vaca-Cordova sent a through ball into the box, and Fernando Flores was on the end of it to bring the score to 3-2 in the 86th minute
- Vaca-Cordova got off one more shot that was blocked before the final horn sounded
LCU HIGHLIGHTS
- Joof's goal in the 51st minute was his first of the season and made him the fifth different Lubbock Christian player to score in 2019
- The Chaps recorded more shots (17/15) and more shots on goal (9/8) than the Saints during the game
- LCU's goal in the 86th minute from Flores was the sophomore's sixth of the season. He has already doubled his goal output from his freshman campaign
- Both Caram Carneiro Alve and Vaca-Cordova recorded their first assists of the season on the two Chap goals
- Seven different Lubbock Christian players tallied shots on goal in the loss
CHAPARRAL NOTES
- LCU goalkeeper made five saves in the loss, bringing him to 104 in his career. He needs eight more to move to second all-time in LCU history and just 17 more to become the Chap all-time leader
- Flores's six goals this season are more than any Chap player scored during the course of the 2018 season
- Lubbock Christian has tallied nine assists so far this season with all nine coming from different players
