HOW IT HAPPENED
- After three quick shots on goal in the first eight minutes, the Lady Chaps got on the board in the ninth minute, as Haley Knesek scored on a goal assisted by Celia Duarte
- Although they created scoring chances throughout the remainder of the first half, LCU's next goal did not come until the 60th minute, when Tegan Wilson scored a goal with Stephanie Wilson assisting
- Knesek put the game away for good in the 86th minute with her second goal of the day. Assists on the goal came from Maddie Hoel and Allison Scott
- The Patriots recorded their only shot on goal in the game's closing minutes, forcing Lady Chap goalkeeper Hannah Wise to make a save in the 89th minute
LCU HIGHLIGHTS
- Knesek scored goals number four and five of the season in the game and is now tied for the team lead in both goals (5) and points (14)
- The Lady Chaps outshot UT Tyler 22 to six on the day, including an 11 to one advantage in the shots on goal category
- Tegan Wilson's goal was her second of the season, meaning seven different LCU players have now scored multiple goals
- Stephanie Renteria's assist on Wilson's goal marked her first point of the season, while Maddie Hoel's assist was her of the year
LADY CHAP NOTES
- Since starting the season 0-2, Lubbock Christian has rattled off five straight wins, recording their first win streak of that many games since 2015
- Of the six goals LCU scored in their first two conference games this weekend, Haley Knesek was involved in five of them. She scored once on Thursday night and assisted the other two goals before scoring twice in Saturday's win over the Patriots
- UT Tyler earned just one corner kick in the game, which was the fewest by a Lady Chap opponent in any game this season. Last time an opponent tallied one corner or fewer was October 13, 2018 in a win at St. Mary's
- Saturday's meeting was the first-ever between the Lady Chap and Patriot soccer programs, making LCU 1-0 all-time in that matchup
NEXT UP
- Lubbock Christian will be back at home for a pair of conference matchups against Texas Woman's and Dallas Baptist on October 3rd and 5th, respectively
