HOW IT HAPPENED

• It took just over a minute for the Mountain Lions to take the lead as they went up 1-0 on a goal from Gabriella Lancaster. The assist on the goal came from Savannah Mills
• Shadiana Haney fired the first Lady Chap shot on goal of the season 35 minutes into the game, but it was saved by the UCCS keeper
• Mills got in on the scoring herself less than two minutes into the second half, putting the Mountain Lions up 2-0
• The third UCCS goal came in the 61^st minute after a foul was called on the Lady Chaps in the penalty area. Tarah Patterson took the penalty kick for UCCS and converted it
• Celia Duarte kept LCU from being shut out with a goal in the 65^th minute. It was the first of the freshman's collegiate career and was assisted by Allison Scott

 
LCU HIGHLIGHTS

• Four freshmen made their collegiate debuts in the game, including Maddie Hoel, Celia Duarte, Carmen Herndon and Madison Mayben
• Allison Scott's assist on Duarte's goal was the seventh of her career
• Hailey Phipps, Shadiana Haney and Celia Duarted recorded LCU's three shots on goal
• Goalkeeper Hannah Wise made four saves in a losing effort

 
GAME NOTES

• Lubbock Christian lost its second straight season opener and is now 5-4-1 in season openers all time
• Wise dropped to 17-17-2 in goal during her career
• Although they gave up three goals, LCU's back line held the Mountain Lions to just seven shots on goal in the game
