Flores Goal Leads Chaps to Season-Opening Win

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Adam Baldwin gets the game's first scoring chance at the 10 minute mark, hitting a shot on goal that was saved by LCU keeper Braxton Thorne
  • Chaps had a number of scoring chances between the 37 and 41 minute marks, with shots from Fernando Flores, Emilio Marti and Abdou Joof
  • Tariq Bakkali fired a shot into the bottom right corner that was saved by the UCCS keeper, earning a corner kick
  • In the 55th minute, Lubbock Christian broke the scoreless tie with a goal from Fernando Flores. Assists came from Pablo Galietero Diez and Niklas Neumann
  • UCCS earned back-to-back corner kicks in the 78th minute, but were unable to create any scoring chances out of it

  • Lubbock Christian earned its first-ever win against the Mountain Lions after losses in 2018 and 2016
  • The Chaps won their season opener for the first time since 2015 when they secured a 5-4 win against the University of the Southwest
  • Flores's goal in the 55th minute was his fourth in 20 collegiate games and gave him 11 total points in his career
  • Lubbock Christian earned six corners to just four for UCCS. In 2018, LCU took just 74 corners throughout the year while opponents drew 103
