HOW IT HAPPENED
- The game's first scoring chance came from the Cougars, as Aiden McGeown shot at the bottom left corner of the goal in the ninth minute, but had it saved by LCU keeper Braxton Thorne
- LCU's first shot on goal came from Pablo Gailetero Diez in the 11th minute, but it was saved
- Diez put another shot on goal that was saved in the 25th minute and the rebound was headed on frame by Agustine Contreras Orsi
- Mohammed Busaidy broke the scoreless tie in the 61st minute, scoring for the first time this season
- A misplay on the back line led to Zach Mercier scoring for Colorado Christian to knot the game back up at 1-1
- After a pair of LCU shots on goal were saved, Tariq Bakkali put the Chaps back in front with a tap-in goal
- Bakkali took less than a minute to get his second goal of the game, this time hitting the ball into the left side of the net after an assist from Hector Rodriguez-Cabo
LCU HIGHLIGHTS
- Lubbock Christian tallied 11 shots on goal during the game, which is the most since October 27, 2018 and their second most in a single game since Paul Gilbert took over as head coach
- Bakkali led the team with two shots on goal for the second straight game
- Chaps earned three corner kicks and allowed just one, leading in that category for a second straight game
- Jonathan Woods, Hector Rodriguez-Cabo and Fernando Flores all recorded assists in the game
GAME NOTES
- Bakkali's two goals were the fifth and sixth of his LCU career. He also had two goals in last season's win against Colorado Christian
- Sunday's meeting was the third between Colorado Christian and Lubbock Christian, but the first in Lubbock. LCU has won all three meetings
- LCU goalkeeper Braxton Thorne earned his 10th career win on Sunday and is now 10-6-3 in 21 games played
