NO. 1 LUBBOCK CHRISTIAN (6-0)
vs.
CHAMINADE (2-3)
Saturday, Nov. 27 – 7 p.m. CT
McCabe Gym (Honolulu, Hawai'i)
All-Time Series: First Meeting
TIPOFF
The Lubbock Christian University men's basketball team will complete its three-game swing in the Aloha State on Saturday as they take on Chaminade at McCabe Gym. The Chaps remain undefeated after wins against Hawai'i-Hilo and Hawai'i Pacific on this trip. The Silverswords enter Saturday's meeting with a 2-3 record, but their only losses came last week at the Maui Jim Invitational and were all against Division I Teams. They faced No. 23 Oregon, Notre Dame and Butler on the trip.
FIVE THINGS TO FOCUS ON
1 | The Chaps had their best shooting night of the season on Thursday, hitting on 61.2 percent of their attempts from the field. They rank third in the Lone Star Conference with a season shooting percentage of 51.4. Five different LCU players who have attempted at least 10 shots this season are hitting better than 50 percent from the field. Lubbock Christian hasn't been excellent from behind the arc (38.7 percent), but they did hit 55 percent of their three-pointers against Hawai'i Pacific.
2 | Lloyd Daniels fell one rebound short of his second-straight double-double on Thursday, scoring 18 points and pulling down a team-high nine rebounds. Prior to this trip to Hawai'i, Daniels had played in 54 career games with the Chaps and never led the team rebounds for a single game, and he has now led in two straight games.
3 | LCU enters Saturday's game ranked No. 1 nationally in both the coaches and media poll, setting up for some light irony in the matchup against Chaminade. The university has one major claim to fame. Back in 1982, when the Silverswords were still members of the NAIA, they met NCAA No. 1 Virginia, who was led by 7'4" Ralph Sampson, who is now a member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Chaminade won the game 77-72 in one of the greatest college basketball upsets of all time.
4 | Parker Hicks is the team leader in scoring with an average of 16.7 points per game, which ranks 10
th-best in the LSC. He has reached double-figures in every game so far this season. He is also the league-leader in rebounding with an average of 9.3 per game.
5 | Lubbock Christian will have a little over a week off after today's matchup with Chaminade. Their next game is not until Monday, December 6, when they will host Oklahoma City at 7 p.m. at the Rip Griffin Center.
