Game 1 vs. FHSU
LCU Highlights:
Turning Point:
LCU put the pressure on FHSU early. The first four batters for LCU reached base safely in the bottom of the first inning (two by hits and two by walks), resulting in the end of FHSU's starting pitcher Megan Jameson's start in the circle.
How it Happened:
- Makemson, as she did in her first at-bat Friday, helped LCU strike first by hitting a home run. Her homer against FHSU fought through the wind in right-centerfield and tailed over the fence for a three-run home run.
- Skyler Herrera extended the lead to 4-0 with a two-out single to score Dakota Stotyn from third base in the second inning.
- Herrera and Makemson each had a triple to leadoff the fifth inning. It set up the first of two runs in the inning, as Addi Lewis closed the inning with a RBI single to score Makemson for a 6-0 lead.
Inside the Numbers:
- Franco, who started and pitched all but the final inning, went 6.0 innings and faced two batters over the minimum (20) and allowed one hit. LCU retired the last 14 batters they faced, with Franco retiring the final 1 she faced. Franco improved to 3-1 in the circle.
- LCU was 4-for-6 getting the leadoff batter aboard.
- Herrera and Makemson each hit their first triple of the season the contest. Each player had two on the season last season, marking their triple hit against FHSU as the third in their career.
- Herrera, who co-led LCU last season in multi-hit games (8), had her first multi-hit game of the season.
- The meeting was the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
Game 2 vs. UNK
LCU Highlights:
- Athena Muniz went 2-for-2 with a home run and a triple with four RBI.
- Brooke Makemson was 2-for-2 with a home run and two RBI.

Turning Point:
Muniz gave LCU their first lead of the game in the third innings, hitting a triple with two outs, which was part of a four-run third inning to take a 5-2 lead.
How it Happened:
- Two singles and an error set up a sacrifice fly hit by Katie Gosker to give the Lopers a 1-0 lead in the first inning. LCU matched the run in the bottom half of the first inning with Angela Donaldson hitting a two-out single to score Makemson.
- Carly Dembowski regained the Lopers lead in the third inning with a leadoff solo home run.
- In the home half of the third inning, LCU relied on another two-out rally. Following a game-tying hit by Alivia Villarreal, Muniz hit a two-out triple, which scored a pair of runs for LCU's first run of the game. Alexa Riggs made it 5-3 by hitting a booted ball, prolonging the inning reaching on an error and scoring Muniz.
- LCU then put the game out of reach with a five-run fourth inning. Makemson and Muniz each hit two-run home runs in the inning, with an Addi Lewis RBI double squeezed in between the two home runs.
Inside the Numbers:
- Freshman pitcher Rachel Kuehnle made her first collegiate start in the circle and allowed two runs (one earned) off five hits in 3.2 innings to register her first win of her collegiate career.
