How it Happened:
  • Savannah Wysocki opened the scoring for LCU with a hit to centerfield scoring Kamryn Gibbs in the fifth inning.
  • With two outs, UTT produced four consecutive hits leading to a three-run fifth inning to give UTT a 3-1 lead.
  • Two errors in the top of the sixth were capitalized on by LCU, with an error hit into by Villiarreal with two outs allowed LCU to tie the game 3-3.
  • Ashley Perez ended the game in the bottom of the 10th inning with a solo home run for UTT.

Inside the Numbers:
  • The loss was LCU's first extra-inning loss of the season and it was their first loss when scoring first (18-1) this season.
  • LCU fell to 1-4 in one-run games this season.
  • Tyla Lee was 2-for-2 getting aboard in a leadoff at-bat.

  • The last time LCU played in a 10-inning game was May 3, 2018 against Oklahoma Christian at the Heartland Conference Tournament.

Game 2

LCU Highlights:
Turning Point:
Athena Muniz hit a two-out triple to give LCU a 3-1 lead in the second inning.

How it Happened:
  • With the bases loaded in the first innings, LCU took a 1-0 lead on a sharp grounder to first base, which was misplayed and Lewis reached on the error (Wysocki scored). LCU had the bases loaded with one out, but was unable to get any additional runs.
  • Perez hit her second home run in as many at bats, connecting on a home run in the bottom of the first inning to tie the game 1-1.
  • LCU would score the next six runs. Herrera hit a sacrifice fly in the second inning, before Muniz hit a two-out triple to make it a 3-1 lead. Following a two-out RBI-single by Kamryn Gibbs in the third inning for a 4-1 lead, LCU made it 7-1 with a three-run sixth inning. Lee drove in a pair and Addi Lewis drove in the other in the three-run sixth inning.
  • Kyla Mach ended the streak of LCU runs with a pinch-hit solo home run in the sixth inning for the Patriots. LCU grabbed the run back in the top of the seventh inning with a double to score Wysocki.

Inside the Numbers:
  • Dakota Stotyn made her Tyler return pitching her second complete game of the season. Stotyn, a Tyler College transfer, went 7.0 innings and allowed two runs, improving to 5-2 on the season.
  • LCU improved to 11-17 overall in program history when playing on the road against a top-10 nationally ranked program.
  • LCU produced 14 hits, which tied a season high.
  • Herrera hit her conference-leading fifth sacrifice fly of the season. They are the highest single-season total since Megan Sullivan had five sacrifice flies in 2014.
  • Wysocki's four-hit game matched a season high, marking the second time this season she has had a four-hit performance (third time a Lady Chaps player has had a four-hit game this season).
  • The meetings were the first-ever meetings between the two programs.
