Skylar Herrera came a home run shy of completing a cycle in a 5-3 Lubbock Christian University win over Hardin-Simmons. She followed in the second game of the doubleheader with a home run to complete a 5-for-6 afternoon, as LCU won the nightcap 13-3 in five innings to complete a doubleheader sweep of the Cowgirls.
Brooke Makemson also completed a five-hit afternoon, as LCU produced 10 extra-base hits in the doubleheader.

Turning Point:
Herrera tripled down the third base line to open the home half of the third inning. The hit opened a three-run inning to break a 1-1 tie.
How it Happened:
- LCU's first three batters in the bottom of the first inning singled, leading to a RBI for Lee for a 1-0 lead.
- In the top of the second inning, HSU's Kaylen Washington hit a solo home run over the left field fence to tie the game 1-1.
- Herrera led off the bottom of the third inning with a triple and scored on a centerfield single by Lee. Lewis doubled to centerfield to score Lee before eventually scoring on a single by Angela Donaldson.
- An error led to a 4-2 game in the fourth inning, but Makemson got the run back with a two-out ground-rule-double to plate a run in the sixth inning. Karis Hessert hit a RBI-single with two outs in the seventh inning for HSU to bring the tying run up, but Peyton Newman flew out to end the game.
Inside the Numbers:
- Taylor Franco improved to 11-4 with the win, going all seven innings in the circle for her 13th complete game of the season. She allowed her first home run of the season in the appearance.
- LCU improved to 6-6 in games without a home run and 2-4 in games in which the opponents had one home run in the game.
- Skylar Herrera hit her team-leading fifth triple of the season.
- LCU was 4-for-6 getting the leadoff batter aboard.

Turning Point:
Herrera and Makemson hit back-to-back home runs in the bottom of the second inning to regain the lead.
How it Happened:
- Teams traded runs to open the game. Lewis hit a RBI-single to get LCU on the scoreboard first in the bottom of the first inning, but HSU responded in the top of the second inning with a run to tie the game 1-1.
- LCU retook the lead in the bottom of the second inning with back-to-back home runs by Herrera and Makemson for a 4-1 lead.
- Washington cut the HSU deficit to 4-3 in the top of the third inning with a two-run double.
- LCU responded with an eight-run inning in the bottom half of the inning. Kamryn Gibbs started off the scoring in the inning with a RBI-single. Savannah Wysocki and Makemson followed with bases-loaded doubles, with each double driving in a pair of runs. Lewis and Muniz each followed with sacrifice flies.
- Chloe White closed the scoring with a pinch-hit solo home run in the bottom of the fourth inning for a 13-3 lead.
Inside the Numbers:
- Dakota Stotyn claimed the win (6-2), going 3.0 innings and not allowing a earned run. Rachel Kuehnle and Maxine Valdez each pitched a scoreless inning in relief.
- LCU's two sacrifice fly RBI were season highs for the team, which now has 11 on the season.
- The game marked the 12th game of the season in which LCU did not walk a batter.
- Makemson connected on her team-leading seventh home run of the season and ninth of her LCU career. She also had a pair of doubles marking the third Lady Chap with two doubles hit in a game this season. Herrera hit her fifth of the season and ninth of her career. She had a pair of RBI, placing her team-leading total at 35.
- White hit her first collegiate home run becoming the 10th different Lady Chap to hit a home run this season.
- LCU improved to 10-1 when hitting at least two home runs in a game and 17-1 in games separated by five or more runs.
- The meetings were the first-ever meetings between the two programs and the wins place LCU with a 4-0 record all-time against Division III programs. HSU marked the first NCAA Division III program to face LCU at PlainsCapital Park.
