LUBBOCK, Texas (April 16, 2021) – A pair of explosive innings by No.17 Texas A&M – Kingsville allowed the Javelinas to complete a doubleheader sweep over Lubbock Christian University Friday at PlainsCapital Park. LCU fell 4-0 in the opener before the second game ended in six innings with LCU falling 11-2.

Turning Point:
Jennifer Giesey's two-run home run in the top of the seventh inning unlocked a scoreless tie for TAMUK.
How it Happened:
- LCU was hitless until Tyla Lee hit a single down the leftfield line with one out in the fourth inning (13th LCU at-bat of the game).
- TAMUK enjoyed a four-run seventh inning. With one out, Giesey hit a two-run home run for the game's first scoring. Kayla Gonzales followed later in the inning with a two-out home run.

- Taylor Franco had not allowed a home run in conference play this season until the seventh inning, as she allowed two home runs in the inning.
- The three hits marked the third time this season LCU has had three hits or less in a game.
- LCU was 0-for-5 with runners on base and TAMUK was 1-for-8 in the same category.

LCU had two runners in scoring position with one out in the bottom of the fourth inning, but they were unable to score a run, as

Kamryn Gibbs struck out to end LCU's threat and keep the score tied 1-1. TAMUK followed in the top of the fifth inning with a lead-off homerun.
How it Happened:
- A two-out single in the first inning by Anastasia Leibas gave TAMUK a 1-0 lead.
- LCU matched the run in the bottom of the third inning with a RBI-double hit by Makemson to tie the game at 1-1.
- Muniz and Donaldson each hit a single to leadoff the fourth inning, but LCU was unable to get a run across. TAMUK pitcher Lizette Del Angel struck out White and Gibbs to send the game to the fifth inning tied 1-1
- Makenzie Mays led off the top of the fifth inning with a two-run home to provide the Javelinas a 3-1 lead. LCU responded with a two-out RBI-single to left field in the fifth inning to cut the LCU deficit to 3-2.
- Two quick outs were recorded by the Lady Chaps defense in the sixth inning, but things changed when a ground ball hit to shortstop Makemson was fielded and her throw to Donaldson pulled her off the bag. Donaldson applied the tag on Geisey, but the ball was dislodged from her glove and everyone was ruled safe. Nine consecutive Javelinas reached base safely with two outs in the inning, leading to an eight-run inning.
