SAN ANGELO, Texas (May 2, 2021) – Lubbock Christian University, playing 10 of their 16 road games this season against nationally ranked opponents, closed out their regular season falling 4-2 and 7-3 at No.23 Angelo State Sunday at Mayer Field. They close the regular season with a 29-16 overall mark and a 17-13 Lone Star Conference record, as they now await the regular season to play out for LSC Championship seedings.

Turning Point:
LCU committed a pair of errors on the left side of the diamond in a two-run fifth inning, and the two unearned runs were the difference in the game.
How it Happened:
- A leadoff walk to Ashlyn Lerma and a single by Ashlynn Box opened the bottom of the first inning for the Belles, which led to a run on a fielder's choice hit into by Courtney Barnhill for a 1-0 lead.
- Two errors by LCU in the fifth inning led to two unearned runs, as the Belles extended their lead to 3-0.
- A leadoff single in the sixth inning led to a Jade Strother RBI-single with a hit up the middle to extend the ASU lead to 4-0.
- Angela Donaldson led off the top of the seventh inning with a double. Villarreal, Gibbs (RBI) and Dakota Stotyn each followed with three consecutive singles to place LCU with the bases loaded trailing 4-1 with no outs and at the top of the order. Savannah Wysocki flew out, Skylar Herrera flew out for a sacrifice fly RBI and Brooke Makemson grounded out to end the game with the tying runs stranded in scoring position.

- Taylor Franco fell to 14-8 on the season in the circle. She surrendered two earned runs off six hits. For the seventh time this season, LCU scored two runs or less during her start. She went the distance for her 19th complete game of the season.
- ASU was 5-for-6 getting the leadoff batter aboard.
- Franco held ASU to 2-for-18 (.111) with runners on base and 1-for-12 (.083) with runners in scoring position.

Skylar Herrera hit the sacrifice fly, which was her conference leading seventh on the season, and the amount is the highest single-season total by a Lady Chaps member since Kim Frazer had seven in the 2012 season. Raquel Hawkins holds the LCU record with eight during the inaugural (2008) season.
- LCU fell to 27-5 on the season when out-hitting an opponent, as LCU had a 7-6 advantage in hits.

Trailing 3-0, LCU had an opportunity to charge back after the first four batters of the top of the fourth inning reached base, but a pair of strikeouts mixed with an umpiring delay interrupted LCU's momentum and limited them to two runs in the inning.
How it Happened:
- ASU exploded for four hits in the first inning, leading to a two-run inning and a 2-0 lead. Keilei had the lone RBI in the inning.
- The Belles had three more hits in the second inning, with Ashlynn Box scoring a run off a single for a 3-0 lead before LCU prevented any further damage with a double play.
- Singles by Brooke Makemson and Tyla Lee led off the fourth inning for LCU. Athena Muniz followed with a walk to load the bases. Alivia Villarreal was hit-by-pitch with the bases loaded and Dakota Stotyn walked with the bases loaded to cut LCU's deficit to 3-2.
- Barnhill and Garcia each doubled as the Belles had four hits to leadoff the fifth inning. Mykala Stroud plated a pair of runs with a RBI-single to extend the Belles lead to 6-2.
- Box tallied the final ASU run with a single to left field in the sixth inning for a 7-2 advantage.
- Herrera tripled with one out in the seventh inning and scored on a ground ball by Lee, which resulted in an error.
Inside the Numbers:
- Skylar Herrera hit her team-leading sixth triple of the season, which is tied for third in the conference. The mark is LCU's highest single-season total since Savannah Wysocki had eight in 2019.
- ASU scored in the first inning in each game, placing LCU with a 2-8 record when their opponents score in the first inning.
- LCU was 1-for-8 in two-out at-bats, finishing the day 1-for-16 in two-out at-bats.
- The Lady Chaps were 1-for-14 with runners on base and 0-for-11 with runners in scoring position.
- LCU's loss places them with a 7-9 road record.
