Little has big night as Chaps win third straight match

Chaps win back-to-back road games for first time this season

LAREDO, Texas - Tyler Little picked up his first goal and assist as a Chap, guiding LCU to a 2-1 victory over Texas A&M International on Wednesday, Oct. 19.

Little got the Chaps ( 7-5-3, 4-1-1 LSC) on the board early, as Jasper Reese fired a pass all the way down the field to the Mesquite, Texas native in the 17th minute. Little fired a shot over the arm of the diving Dust Devil (3-6-6, 1-3-2 LSC) keeper to put LCU ahead 1-0.

Just ten minutes later, it was Little dishing out pristine passes, finding Pablo Galietero Diez in the 27th minute for his first assist in the red and blue. This is the fourth straight match that Galietero Diez has scored a goal in, dating back to Oct. 8 against Midwestern State.

In the 34th minute, Tajani Fairclough got the Dust Devils on the scoreboard, cutting the Chap lead down to 2-1 at the break. It is the first goal LCU has given up in 225:18 of game action.

Both teams struggled to get shots off in the second half, but a shot in the 63rd minute by Jeremy Chua was stopped by Robin Verhoeven to keep the Chap advantage at one.

Maximiliano Moreno and Ozman Ochoa got two more looks for Texas A&M International in the final ten minutes, but two more saves from Tom Miles kept the LCU lead intact, and Lubbock Christian left Laredo with their third straight win.

With another goal, Galietero Diez now ranks fourth all time in career points with 44, and is now tied with Fernando Flores for third all time in goals with 18 in his career.

By simply stepping on the pitch this evening, Tariq Bakkali set the all-time record for matches played in a career, passing Adam Goodnight by playing in his 73rd career match as a Chap in Laredo tonight.

LCU returns home for a tough test against no. 8 St. Mary's on Saturday, Oct. 22. Kickoff from the LCU Soccer & Track Facility is set for 5 PM. Fans can purchase tickets now at lcuchaps.com
