Stars Fall To Lady Chaps in Exhibition Play

Audrey Robertson Led LCU With 18 points Against Former Sooner Athletic Foe

LUBBOCK, Texas (November 26, 2022) – A pair of 9-0 runs in the second half helped No.16 Lubbock Christian overcome a second half deficit and defeat Oklahoma City 74-65 Saturday afternoon in an exhibition game inside Rio Griffin Center.

Audrey Robertson led LCU in the victory, as she posted 18 points, seven rebounds, four steals and a trio of blocks. She was one of four Lady Chaps in double figures, as Grace Foster (15 points), Maci Maddox (12 points) and Reese Schumann (11 points) all had double-figure production. LCU had a 9-1 advantage in blocks, with Robertson (3), Foster (2) and Whitney Cox (2) each having multiple blocks.

OCU was led by Cacie Gorman, who produced a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds. They also received 14 points and five assists from Annilia Dawn. Both teams shot well from the line, as OCU was 15-of-15 from the free-throw stripe (LCU was 15-of-17).

TURNING POINT
LCU only trailed for 3:20 of the game, trailing 9-6 in the opening quarter and 52-50 with 3:23 remaining in the third quarter. The 52-50 deficit was quickly erased, as LCU closed the quarter on a 9-0 run. Shaylee Stovall highlighted the 9-0 run with a three-pointer with 1:22 left in the frame. OCU missed seven field goal attempts over a 4:26 stretch, and it was part of a 1-of-16 shooting struggle for the Stars, as LCU's second 9-0 run was ignited by an Audrey Robertson three-pointer. LCU built a 74-61 lead before OCU closed the game with a 4-0 run.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
LCU had four players with at least seven rebounds, as Foster (8), Robertson (7), Schumann (7) and Cox (8) each completed the task. Schumann's total would have been a career-high if the game was a regular season contest.

WHAT'S NEXT
LCU returns to the hardwood Sunday, hosting Western Colorado for a regular season contest at 3 p.m. inside Rip Griffin Center. WCU comes to Lubbock following a 51-37 loss Friday at Eastern New Mexico.
