LCU Looking To Clinch Series Sunday

Chaps have 2-1 Series Lead

04.03.2022

LUBBOCK CHRISTIAN (24-9, 22-9, LSC) vs.
WEST TEXAS A&M (26-7, 24-7 LSC)
Sunday, April 3 – 1 p.m.
Wilder Park – Canyon, Texas

LEADING OFF
It's Sunday and the Chaps have the chance to win another series, this time giving themselves the opportunity to upset No. 5-ranked and LSC-leading West Texas A&M on the road. Lubbock Christian won the series-opener on Friday and split yesterday's doubleheader with a 7-3 win in the nightcap to give themselves a chance to clinch the series on Sunday. The Buffs have not lost a series yet this season, and LCU is the only the second to even clinch a split with WT.

STARTING PITCHING MATCHUP
LCUTy Stephenson will pitch in the finale, coming off his best outing of the season last weekend. The right-hander was excellent last Sunday against St. Edward's, going 7.1 innings and allowing just one earned run on three hits and two walks while striking out seven. It marked the first time that he had pitched more than seven innings since February 28, 2020. The outing lowered Stephenson's season ERA to 6.28 in 28.2 innings of work. He has allowed 20 earned runs on 25 hits and 16 walks while striking out 22. Opponents are hitting .289 against him this season.

WT – Sasha Sneider is the likely candidate to go to the mound for the Buffs as they try and salvage a split with the Chaps. The left-hander boasts a 4.74 ERA in 19.0 innings of work. He has appeared seven total times this season, but three of those were out of the bullpen. Sneider has allowed 10 runs on only 14 hits but has walked 12 batters in his time on the mound. Opponents are hitting just .203 against him, and he has allowed just two extra-base hits all season (one double, one triple). Last week he was used in more of an opener role, pitching just one inning against St. Mary's before Isaac Keehn came on and pitched the next five. Keehn is a right=hander with a 3.32 ERA in 19.0 innings of work, and has pitched solely out of the bullpen.
