How It Happened
Set One:
LCU thrived off blocks early in the set. Trailing 6-3, LCU went on a 10-2 run highlighted by a trio of blocks for a 13-8 lead.
Kalli Dalland, who added a kill in the series, played a role in each of the three blocks (one solo and two block assists). The Lady Chaps closed the set on a 9-2 run, which included another block from Dalland and a pair of kills from
Kiana Fallaha, for a 25-14 set win. LCU had 5.0 blocks in the set and held MSU to a -.048 attack percentage, as they had 13 attack errors. Fallaha had a trio of kills in the set to lead LCU.
Set Two:
The Lady Chaps continued the momentum in the second set. After a slim 3-2 deficit in the set, LCU erupted with a 6-0 run featuring a pair of kills from
Lily Bickley for an 8-3 advantage. The 6-0 run was part of a 15-3 run and LCU cruised to a 25-11 set win off a 14-4 advantage in kills. LCU hit .310, compared to MSU's -.148, and had six different players with at least two kills.
Set Three:
The third set was tight early, with the set tied 9-9, but LCU, who led 3-1 early, never trailed from that point on. A kill by
Kiana Fallaha ignited a 9-2 run, capped by an ace from
Mady McCully, for an 18-11 advantage.
Kalli Dalland and
Sailey Six served up an ace down the stretch, as LCU had four aces in the set to win the set 25-16.
Lily Bickley had five kills on seven attempts during the set for LCU, who produced 15 kills in the set and hit .387.
