WICHITA FALLS, Texas (October 10, 2023) – Lubbock Christian University women's tennis program concluded play at the Midwestern State Invitational with a singles and doubles flight title, as
Emily-Bo Meyer won Flight-D (in singles) and the team of
Axelle Jacquemin and
Anastasiia Opolska won Flight-A (in doubles).
Meyer went 3-0 in singles play, with a dramatic win in the semifinals against MSU's Sarah Mazaraki. Dropping the opening set 7-5, Meyer bounced back with a 7-4 set-tiebreaker in the second set (7-6) and won the match-tiebreaker 10-6 to advance to the flight finals, where she defeated Andrea Vargas (Northeastern State [Okla.]) 6-2, 6-4. Meyer was one of two Lady Chaps making a flight finals appearance, as
Maya Adler made the finals in Flight-B. Adler fell to MSU's Anda Ghinga in a thriller, as she won the second set 7-6 on a 7-4 set-tiebreaker before falling 11-9 in the match-tiebreaker.

Mariia Koroleva and
Michelle Trochez each went 2-1 in singles. The pair of wins for Adler improved her season mark to 9-2 and she joins
Andrea De Bernardo (9-4) as the team's co-leader in singles victories this season.
The doubles team of Jacquemin and Opolska improved to 11-2 overall this season, as they went 3-0 in Wichita Falls (Jacquemin is a Wichita Falls Rider product). They defeated MSU's Sydney Williams and Ghinga in the finals 8-4 for the flight win.
The event closed out the fall schedule of the 2023-24 playing schedule.
