Dow's Career-High 30 Points Leads Chaps Past Oklahoma City

LUBBOCK, TEXAS - The Lubbock Christian University men's basketball team scored a season-high 105 points in a dominate win over Oklahoma City on New Year's Eve, fueled by a career day from sophomore Kendall Dow

Dow broke two personal records in the victory over OCU. Dow broke his career high of 21 points from earlier this season with a 30-point night and surpassed his career high in made threes with six. Dow also dished out two assists and collected two steals.

Three other Chaps scored in double figures in the win. Ethan Duncan tied his season high with 20 points and added two rebounds and three assists. Duncan was also a force on the defensive end contributing two steals and a block. Tiras Morton recorded his fifth double-double of the season putting up 18 points and grabbing 12 boards. Morton also had three steals and two blocks. Ty Caswell scored a season high 17 points on 8-of-12 shooting.

How it Happened

The Stars scored the first basket of the game and traded buckets with the Chaps for the first 13 minutes of action. LCU lead 25-22 with 6:47 remaining in the half, but exploded with a 24-5 run to end the first half of play. Dow scored 13 of his career high 30 during the run.

LCU surpassed the 100-point mark late in the game off a made three by Trey Thompson. Despite the Star's offensive effort, the Chaps cruised to a 105-57 victory.

Game Notes

  • LCU did a stellar job taking care of the basketball, dishing out 22 assists while turning the ball over nine times. Individually, Najeeb Muhammad was on top of the distribution list for the Chaps with six assists.
  • The Chap defense was effective at taking away the basketball in Sunday's game, forcing 16 Oklahoma City turnovers. Those takeaways turned into 20 points on the offensive end of the floor. Muhammad led the way individually for the Chaparrals with three steals.
  • LCU made half of their attempts from three point range, knocking down 17 of 34 shots.
  • The Chaps held the Stars to only 36.7 percent shooting from the field.
  • LCU had a 44-27 edge on the boards in the win.
  • This it the first game the Chaps have hit the 100-point mark since Feb. 24, 2022 where LCU beat Western New Mexico 108-54.
