LUBBOCK, Texas (February 10, 2023) – The No.21 Lubbock Christian University completed a Friday sweep of games at the Lubbock Sports College Invitational with a 9-0 win over Emporia State and a 10-2 win over Adams State. Both wins were five-inning run-rule wins at Maner Park.

Hope Banales hit a two-run home run to highlight a five-run second inning.
How it Happened:
LCU scored at least one run in each inning. Oyanguren opened the scoring with a sacrifice fly in the first inning. LCU then erupted with five runs off six hits in the second inning. Banales, who had a double in the first inning, hit a two-run home run against the wind to centerfield. It was one of five straight two-out base hits for LCU, who led 6-0 after two innings.
Amanda Valdiviezo made it 7-0 in the third inning with a RBI-single before the Lady Chaps closed the scoring with two runs in the fourth inning.
Berkeley Quinn closed a 3-for-3 performance with a RBI-single for LCU's final run.
While LCU was producing 13 hits,
Maxine Valdez was doing her part in the circle. She had a no-hit bid broken up on a leadoff infield single in the fifth inning. It was the only hit she allowed, as she struck out seven batters.
Inside the Numbers:
- Maxine Valdez improved to 3-0 on the season (22-9 in her career), as she posted her second complete game of the season (ninth of her career) and her first shutout of the campaign (fourth of her career).
- Berkeley Quinn matched a career high in hits with three.
- Hope Banales connected on her first home run of the season. It was her second of her collegiate career, as she had one last season with New Mexico State.
- LCU was 6-for-10 in two-out at-bats. Six different Lady Chaps were 1-for-1 in two-out at-bats. It led to five two-out RBI. Banales led LCU with two two-out RBI.
- Ally Oyanguren was 2-for-2 with runners in scoring position. She hit a sac-fly RBI, which was the second one by a Lady Chaps member this season.

LCU improved to 2-0 all-time against Emporia State and both meetings have been played in Lubbock.

Back-to-back doubles by
Hope Banales and
Kasey Flores sparked a three-run second inning, which was LCU's response after ASU had tied the game in the top half of the inning.
How it Happened:
The Lady Chaps struck first with
Skylar Herrera belting a two-run home run to right-centerfield in the home half of the first inning. ASU loaded the bases in the second inning and scratched a couple of runs across to tie the game at 2-2. LCU answered back in the bottom of the second inning with a three-run inning made possible by doubles to left field by Banales and Flores for a 5-2 LCU lead.
Doubles by
Kamryn Gibbs (in the third inning) and Flores (in the fourth inning) lead to a run in each inning and LCU had a 7-2 lead through four innings. The Lady Chaps surged with the walk-off (run-rule) in the fifth inning, as six batters went to the plate and the Grizzlies were unable to record an out before LCU scored a trio of runs. Banales had a bases-loaded walk to start the streak of three straight at-bats leading to a run. Flores followed with a RBI-single before
Riley Lunsford ended the game with a RBI-single up the middle to end the game.

- Ashlinn Hamilton registered the win in the circle (2-0), as the freshman went the distance for her second complete game. She struck out six batters.
- Berkeley Quinn stole a pair of bases, marking three consecutive games with a pair of steals.
- LCU hit four doubles, marking the fifth game this season they have hit at least four doubles.
- Skylar Herrera hit her first home run of the season, marking the 24th of her LCU career.
- LCU was 8-for-18 with runners in scoring position. Kasey Flores and Sydnee Bowlin each went 2-for-2 with runners in scoring position. Bowlin was also 2-for-2 with two outs.
- LCU was 4-for-5 getting the leadoff batter aboard, with Bailey Hughes 2-for-2 reaching safely in leadoff at-bats.
- The Lady Chaps forced opponents to go 0-for-5 in two-out at-bats in each game Friday (0-for-10 on the day).
