LUBBOCK, Texas (April 16, 2023) - Lubbock Christian University women's tennis team split their final week of regular season play, as they topped Arkansas Fort Smith 6-1 before falling to No.17 Cameron 6-1 in Lone Star Conference duals play. With the split, LCU heads to the Lone Star Conference Championships in Arlington, Texas as the No.7-seed (of eight) and they will open play Thursday at 3:30 p.m. against No.2-seed Midwestern State.
vs. UAFS
LCU opened the weekend Friday sweeping doubles play for the doubles dual point. There were only two active matches, as UAFS fielded a roster of five student-athletes.

Michelle Trochez won No.1 doubles and
Anastasiia Khrustaleva /
Anastasiia Opolska won the No.2 doubles match to clinch the point.
UAFS won the No.1 singles match via retirement, but LCU won the remaining four active singles matches. Jacquemin (No.2 singles),
Oshini Herath (No.3 singles), Opolska (No.4 singles) and
Maya Adler (No.5 singles) each won their singles match.
Taylor Nichols won by forfeit as UAFS was unable to field her an opponent.
vs. CU
LCU had momentum heading into singles play after getting the doubles point from No.9 Cameron. The team of Khrustaleva / Opolska won No.2 doubles and the point was clinched with the No.3 doubles team of Herath /
Emily-Bo Meyer claiming a 7-6 victory with an 8-6 tiebreaker.
It was the lone success LCU would have in the dual. The Aggies swept singles play, winning all six matches.
In Summary
LCU moved to 13-10 overall and 4-6 in LSC duals. LCU clinched their first LSC Championships berth in program history.
