GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - The Lubbock Christian University women's soccer team opened the 2023 season with a 3-0 loss to Colorado Mesa on Friday (Sept. 1) at Community Hospital Unity Field.
How it Happened
Abby Fotheringham got CMU on the board with the first half's lone goal, slotting home a shot in the seventh minute.
In the 60th minute Sauvelyne Randel extended the Mavs lead, finding the back of the net on a penalty kick.
Abby Fotheringham scored her second goal of the game in the 86th minute, giving the Mavs a three goal lead.
Game Notes
- Freshman Kara Murray made her collegiate debut in goal for the Chaps. She faced 15 shots and made three saves.
- LCU totaled 11 shots in the loss, four of them on goal.
- This is the Mavs first win all-time over the Lady Chaps.
