SAN ANTONIO, Texas (September 12, 2023) – The Lubbock Christian University women's tennis had a productive season debut of individual competition at the Kimbell Memorial Invitational, as they had four individuals with unbeaten records and four flights won.
The individual play featured singles and doubles with players from LCU, Dallas Baptist, St. Mary's and UT Permian Basin flighted into groups.
Maya Adler (Flight 4),
Mariia Koroleva (Flight 6) and
Anastasiia Opolska (Flight 6) went unbeaten (each were 3-0) in their flights and
Michelle Trochez co-led her flight (Flight 1) with a 2-1 record. Troches teamed with
Andrea De Bernardo in doubles play and the tandem won their doubles flight (Flight 2) with a 3-0 record.
In singles play, LCU won 62.9% on their matches, combining to go 22-13. Eight of LCU's 12 singles competitors finished with a record above .500, including
Oshini Herath (played an un-flighted schedule), who went 3-0.
LCU's doubles teams went 9-5, with teams of
Axelle Jacquemin / Opolska, Herath / Koroleva and
Taylor Nichols /
Hannah Quick each going 2-1. LCU placed together five combinations of doubles teams and four had winning records.
The Lady Chaps have their first countable regular season duals matches this week in Pueblo, Colorado. They open the Pueblo Duals facing NCAA Division III Colorado College Thursday at 6 p.m. The Lady Chaps 2-2 last season at the event.
