LUBBOCK, Texas - The Lubbock Christian University men's soccer team started out fast and did not slow down, posting a 5-1 win over South Dakota Mines on Thursday afternoon.
Following the win, the Chaps improve to 3-0-1 on the year, and the Hardrockers drop to 0-5.
HOW IT HAPPENED
In the fifth minute,
Pablo Galietero Diez found the back of the net off a pass from
Saimon Gjeci. This was Galietero Diez's first goal of the season after scoring nine a season ago.
Enzo Jaques extended the LCU lead in the 12th minute. Scoring his second goal of the season.
In the 25th minute Galietero Diez repaid Gjeci by assisting him for the Chaps third goal.
The Chaps took the 3-0 lead into the half.
The Hardrockers cut the lead in the 50th minute when Hayden Jaramillo scored on a penalty kick.
The Chaps scored on a penalty kick of their own in the 87th minute, as Gjeci found the back of the net for his second goal of the day.
Less than a minute later the Chaps scored their fifth and final goal as
Joseph Abraham scored his first goal of the season.
GAME NOTES
- The Chap defense held the Hardrockers to just eight shots and only two of which were on goal.
- 22 players saw action for LCU.
- Gjeci has now scored four goals this season.
- The Chaps have now had eight different goalscorers this season.
- Abraham's goal is the first of his NCAA career.
