LUBBOCK, Texas - The Lubbock Christian University men's soccer team secured a 1-0 victory over regionally ranked Northwest Nazarene Saturday night. The win improves the Chaps record to 4-0-1 and gives them the best start to a season since joining NCAA Division II in 2017.

Tom Miles made eight saves en route to his first shutout of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Chaps got on the board in the fourth minute when a Nako Amare shot went off the left post and Pablo Galietero Diez corralled the rebound and blasted a shot past the Nighthawk goalkeeper.
- Both teams had several opportunities in the remainder of the first half, but neither could find the back of the net and the Chaps took their 1-0 lead in halftime.
- In the 72nd minute the Nighthawks were awarded a penalty kick, but Tom Miles made a tremendous diving save to keep NNU off the scoreboard.
- NNU threatened again in the 88th minute but Miles and the Chap defense made timely stops and held the Nighthawks scoreless.
GAME NOTES
- Galietero Diez scored a goal for the second consecutive game.
- The Chaps out shot the Nighthawks 18 to 11.
- Tom Miles has recorded 24 saves this season and improves his save percentage to .800. He ranks first in the Lone Star Conference in saves and saves per game.
- Nako Amare recorded his first assist of the season.
