LUBBOCK, Texas (September 16, 2023) -- Lubbock Christian University closed the fourth set on a 10-1 run and overcame a 14-13 deficit in the fifth set to close the Lone Star Conference Crossover with a 3-2 win over Oklahoma Christian Saturday afternoon inside Rip Griffin Center. The non-conference victory has LCU heading into LSC play with an 8-2 overall record.
The Lady Chaps were led by a double-doubles from Kiana Fallaha, who registered 16 kills and 17 digs on the day, and from Kayton Genenbacher, who notched 39 assists and 15 double-doubles . Lily Bickley also added 10 kills and Lacie Schooley posted six kills and two blocks in the final two sets to help the offense. Olivia Elofsson served a career-high five aces. On the defensive end, Chloe Menard chipped in 16 digs and Bickley and Kalli Dalland each contributed six blocks (Dalland added nine kills as well).

SET 1 | The Lady Chaps fell in a back-and-forth first set, losing 25-21 in a game that featured five lead changes and was tied eight times. Neither team led by more than four points in the match. OC closed the set on a 6-2 run. Kiana Fallaha led LCU with five kills in the set, as her total represented half of LCU's kills (10) in the set.
SET 2 | Lubbock Christian fought back after dropping the first set to take the second set 25-23, tying the match at 1-1. The Lady Chaps took the lead for good at 24-23 in a set that showcased five lead changes before the Lady Chaps took over in the second half of the stanza. Trailing 22-20, LCU closed on a 5-1 run capped by consecutive aces by Elofsson to end the set. Elofsson's aces were two of four aces in the stanza by LCU. Lubbock Christian's front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking four Oklahoma Christian attacks in the set. Madyson Eberle and Bickley each had three blocks. Bickley led LCU in the set with four kills.
SET 3 | Oklahoma Christian responded to win set number three, putting Lubbock Christian in a 2-1 hole. The Lady Chaps lost the first point and fought from behind the rest of the way before losing the set 25-13, as OC opened the set with a 9-1 run. Annie Davis had six kills in the set for OC.
SET 4 | Lubbock Christian then responded to win the fourth set 25-15 to force a fifth set. The Lady Chaps led from the first point on in the set to earn the victory. Lubbock Christian finished up the stanza on a strong note, claiming its biggest lead, 10 points, to close out the set. They led 15-14 and went on a run in which Schooley served nine straight times. Lubbock Christian got a solid defensive performance from a front row that blocked four Oklahoma Christian attacks in the stanza (Kalli Dalland had a trio of blocks in the frame).
SET 5 | Down 2-1 in the match, Lubbock Christian powered back to win sets four and five, culminating in a 16-14 fifth-set victory, to take the match 3-2. The Lady Chaps earned a set-five victory thanks to a strong showing on the attacking side. Lubbock Christian registered a .500 attack percentage with 11 kills in the set win. After the lead changed hands two times, the Lady Chaps took control for good at 15-14 and rode that advantage to victory. Trailing 15-14, Schooley produced a kill to tie the set 14-14, and teamed with a combo-block, with Bickley to go up 15-14. The match ended with an attack error by Annie Davis.
