Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Early Goal and Timely Defense gives Chaps Win Over Adams State

ALAMOSA, Colo. - A first half goal was all the Lubbock Christian University men's soccer team needed on Saturday afternoon, as the Chaps clamped down defensively and beat Adams State 1-0.

Enzo Jaques scored the fourth minute goal with an assist from Lucas Carli. The Chap defense held the Grizzlies to just five shots in the game as LCU opens the season with a 2-0 record for the first time since the 2021 spring season.

Game Notes

  • Connor Pettigrew recorded two saves for the Chaps and recorded his first shutout of the young season.
  • Lubbock Christian recorded 18 shots, with seven being on goal.

Quote From Head Coach Collin Cone

"I'm proud of the guys this weekend for finding a way to get two big results against RMAC teams. It's a nice way to start the season and anytime you can get two wins on the road is huge. The FLC game was very different from today against Adams State. They gave us the majority of possession and we probably missed 8-10 very good chances to score. It's always hard to find the back of the net when teams commit so many numbers behind the ball. I'm glad that we are playing a lot more possession based football this season, creating chances, and finding the back of the net. It's good to see our "style" & principles in our game model starting to come out. We still have some work to do on coming together as a team, gelling a bit more, & even in the final phase of the game. Overall, very proud of the boys & we are eager to get back to Lubbock and play in front of our fans."
