LUBBOCK, Texas - Ethan Duncan scored a career high 30 points as the Lubbock Christian University men's basketball team knocked off No. 10 Angelo State at home Saturday afternoon.
The Chaparrals (12-4, 7-1) had four players score in double figures, led by Duncan's 30. Aaron Gonzales added 18 points and Najeeb Muhammad chipped in as well with 12 points and seven assists.
LCU shot lights out going 16-of-27 (59.3 percent) from behind the arc, including a career high seven threes from Duncan. Gonzales added four triples of his own.
The Chaps did a stellar job taking care of the basketball, dishing out 16 assists while turning the ball over seven times. Individually, Muhammad led the way for the Chaparrals with seven assists. Kendall Dow also contributed with three assists of his own.
How It Happened
After falling behind 32-29, LCU went on a 9-0 run with 7:39 left in the first half, culminating in a three from Gonzales, to take a 38-32 lead. The Chaps then lost some of that lead, but still entered halftime with a 50-46 advantage. LCU relied on its three-point shooting in the period, knocking down nine shots to account for 27 of its 50 points.
Following intermission, LCU kept widening the lead, expanding it to 61-56 before going on a 7-0 run, finished off by Dow's layup, to grow the lead to 68-56 with 13:11 to go in the contest. The Rams continued to narrow the gap, but the Chaps held on for the 93-89 win. LCU shot 13-of-24 (54.2) from the field in the second half.

- The Chaps had a 28-24 edge on the boards in the win.
- Ty Caswell recorded a team-high eight rebounds.
- After the Rams shot 56.3 percent (9-of-16) from three in the first half, the Chap defense limited ASU to just 35.3 percent (6-of-17) from behind the arc in the second period.
