Ethan Duncan Scores 16 Points as Chaps Race Past UT Tyler

LUBBOCK, Texas - It was another hot shooting night for Ethan Duncan as he dropped 16 points, leading the Lubbock Christian University Men's Basketball team past UT Tyler. 

The Chaparrals (14-5, 9-2) had three players score in double figures, led by Duncan, who connected on four three-pointers. Najeeb Muhammad added 13 points and four assists and Kendall Dow chipped in as well with 12 points off the bench.

LCU's defense held the Patriots to only 18.8 percent shooting from beyond the arc. The Chaparrals also limited Bryce Roberts to 0-of-7 shooting from downtown and six points in the game. The Patriots did not have much luck cleaning up their misses on the offensive glass either, as they finished with four offensive rebounds and managed four second chance points while Lubbock Christian cleared 23 defensive rebounds.

How It Happened

LCU started off strong, putting together a 38-24 lead heading into halftime. The Chaps relied on its three-point shooting in the period, knocking down nine shots to account for 27 of its 38 points.

The Chaps coasted to the win from there, increasing their margin of victory by outscoring the Patriots 30-28 in the second half. LCU shot well from three-point range in the half, hitting five shots from deep to score 15 of its 30 points.

Game Notes

  •  The Chaps made half of their attempts from three point range, knocking down 14-of-28 shots.
  •  LCU never trailed on the way to a 68-52 victory.
  •  The Chaps recorded 17 total assists in the game.
  •  LCU had a 28-26 edge on the boards in the win.
  •  The Chaps turned the ball over eight times while dishing out 17 assists.
  •  LCU got a game-high 14 rebounds from Tiras Morton.
  • Thursday was the fifth time this season Ethan Duncan led LCU in scoring. 
  • Tiras Morton did not score in double-figures for the first time this season.

The Chaps return to action this Saturday (Jan. 27) as they battle No. 4 Dallas Baptist at the Rip Griffin Center. Tip is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
