LUBBOCK, Texas - Ty Caswell's buzzer beating half-court heave went in-and-out as the Lubbock Christian University Men's Basketball team fell 74-71 to No. 4 DBU Saturday afternoon.
The Chaparrals (14-6, 9-3) had five players score in double figures, led by Kurt Wegscheider, Aaron Gonzales, and Najeeb Muhammad who all scored 13 points. Kendall Dow added 12 points off the bench and Ethan Duncan dropped 11.
LCU took advantage of excellent ball movement in Saturday's game, piling up 18 assists on 27 made field goals. Wegscheider's three assists paced the Chaps and Muhammad also added three assists of his own.
How It Happened
After falling behind 26-17, LCU went on a 9-0 run with 9:13 left in the first half, culminating in a three from Ethan Duncan, to tie the game at 26. Dallas Baptist then pulled ahead, sending the Chaparrals into halftime down 39-36.
After intermission, LCU came back to even it up at 50-50 before going on a 6-0 run, finished off by Duncan's jumper, to seize a 56-50 lead with 11:26 to go in the contest. Dallas Baptist then asserted control, outscoring the Chaparrals 24-15 the rest of the way to hand LCU the 74-71 loss.
