Chaps Run Past Midwestern State 76-59 Thursday Night

LUBBOCK, Texas - Ethan Duncan and Najeeb Muhammad combined for 42 points to lead the Lubbock Christian University Men's Basketball team past Midwestern State at home Thursday night.

The Chaps had three players score in double figures led by Duncan and Muhammad. Aaron Gonzales contributed with 13 points and seven rebounds.

The LCU offense was impressive from beyond the arc, making 12 threes on 26 attempts. Duncan hit six treys for the Chaps in the contest.

The Chap defense held Midwestern State shooters to just 39.6 percent from the field, including 22.2 percent from three-point range.

How It Happened

After falling behind 4-0, Lubbock Christian went on a 9-0 run with 17:07 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Duncan, to take a 9-4 lead. The Chaparrals then added 11 points to that lead by the end of the period and entered halftime with a 39-23 advantage. LCU relied on its three-point shooting in the period, knocking down seven shots to account for 21 of its 39 points.

LCU kept its lead intact before going on a 14-0 run, finished off by Muhammad's three, to grow the lead to 60-41 with 9:57 to go in the contest. The Mustangs narrowed the margin somewhat before the game was over, but the Chaparrals still cruised the rest of the way for the 76-59 win. The Chaps shot 56.5 percent from the field in the half to run away with the win.
