LUBBOCK, Texas (October 12, 2024) -- Lubbock Christian University fell in a close 2-1 match against No. 9 Dallas Baptist University on Saturday at the LCU Soccer & Track Complex, ending the Lady Chaps' four-game unbeaten streak. Despite a strong effort, LCU couldn't hold off the Patriots, who remain undefeated this season.
Dallas Baptist, now 6-0-3 overall and 3-0-2 in Lone Star Conference play, moved into third place in the conference standings, trailing Angelo State and Midwestern State. DBU has yet to lose a regular-season match since 2022. The Lady Chaps fell to 3-2-1 in LSC play and are 5-4-2 overall.
How it Happened
Dallas Baptist University broke the scoreless tie when Angelina Olmos scored in the 19th minute, assisted by Annie Severide. The Patriots tacked on another score on a goal from Taylor Tufts in the 51st minute, assisted by Olmos.
Lubbock Christian University narrowed the gap to 2-1 on Ella Spiller's 85th-minute goal, her fourth of the season. Avery Jennings assisted the goal off a Lady Chap corner kick, which was sent perfectly into the box to Spiller, whose header finished off the goal. The Lady Chap's late rally fell one goal short, as the 2-1 score held to the final horn.

- Kara Murray totaled one save for the Lady Chaps out of five total Patriots shots, moving her season total to 13 through four starts. Her record goes to 2-1-1 on the season.
- DBU's first goal ended LCU's shutout sequence at 296:05 and Murray's personal shutout sequence at 289:21.
