OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (October 16, 2024) – Lubbock Christian University suffered a 2-0 defeat on the road against Oklahoma Christian at Eagle Soccer Field on Wednesday. Despite matching the Eagles in total shots and recording more shots on goal, LCU was unable to capitalize on their opportunities, leading to their second consecutive conference loss.
Oklahoma Christian improved to 7-2-3 and 3-3-2 in the Lone Star Conference following the win. The Eagles now occupy the fifth-place spot in the conference standings. The result dropped Lubbock Christian's record to 5-5-2 overall and 3-3-1 in Lone Star play. The Lady Chaps now rank seventh within the conference standings.
How it Happened
Oklahoma Christian opened scoring in the match following a penalty kick goal from standout Kyla Lovelace in the seventh minute. Lady Chap Bonnie Miller committed a foul within the Lady Chap box on an Eagle corner kick, setting Lovelace up for the eventual penalty kick goal.
The Eagles added another goal in the 82nd minute to secure the victory for OC and close out scoring for the match. Caid Jefferson scored the unassisted goal to put Oklahoma Christian up 2-0, which would become the final score.
