LUBBOCK, Texas (October 23, 2024) -- Lubbock Christian University fell 1-0 at home to West Texas A&M on Wednesday at the LCU Soccer & Track Complex. The Buffaloes secured their first conference win of the season, prevailing in this year's edition of the "Rivalry on the Range."
Lubbock Christian dropped to 5-5-4 overall and 2-3-2 in Lone Star Conference play after the loss, continuing their struggles at home with a record of 1-3-3. The Chaparrals haven't secured a home victory since defeating Adams State 2-0 on September 7. Meanwhile, West Texas A&M improved to 3-6-4 overall and 1-2-3 in conference action, earning their first conference win of the season and their first victory since a September 21 matchup against Hawaii Pacific.

Lubbock Christian and West Texas A&M were held scoreless in the first half.
After the break, the Chaparrals surrendered the lone goal, which led to the eventual West Texas A&M victory. The Buffaloes were able to break the scoreless drought in the 57th minute when Philip Leano was able to gather the rebound after a shot from Matteo Landais, who was credited with the assist.
Despite the slim defeat, Connor Pettigrew led Lubbock Christian with seven saves, and the Chaparrals registered 11 shots, five of them on goal.

The Chaparrals and the Patriots have already faced off this season in a match on Sept. 25th, which ended in a 0-0 tie that was not counted toward Lone Star Conference results.
