DALLAS, Texas (October 26, 2024) – Lubbock Christian University and Dallas Baptist battled to a 1-1 tie Saturday at Patriot Soccer Field in Dallas. The Chaparrals and Patriots traded goals, ending in a second consecutive draw this season—this time in a Lone Star Conference matchup, following their earlier non-conference tie.
The draw moved Lubbock Christian's record to 5-5-5 overall and 2-3-3 in Lone Star action. The Chaparrals currently sit at seventh in the Lone Star Conference. Dallas Baptist moved to 4-3-7 overall and 3-1-3 in conference play following the tie. Furthermore, the Patriots sit in the fourth-place spot in the Lone Star standings.
How it Happened
Lubbock Christian took a 1-0 lead when Nako Amare scored his third goal of the season in the 46th minute, occurring 45 seconds into the second half. The Chaparrals controlled the opening kick-off and immediately advanced it into the Patriot defensive zone. During the rush, a centering pass was deflected by a Dallas Baptist defender to Amare, who was able to sneak his shot to the right side of the net, resulting in the opening goal.
The Patriots responded to tie the game on a goal from Evan Pustejovsky in the 61st minute. Neither team added another goal in the match, as they played to the 1-1 draw.
