LUBBOCK, Texas (October 5, 2024) – Lubbock Christian University trailed St. Edward's 2-1 at halftime, but fought back with Geoffroy Letienne scoring with less than five minutes remaining to tie the home game at 2-2 Saturday at LCU Soccer & Track Complex.
Both teams have similar records after the result, as Lubbock Christian moved to 3-3-3 overall and 0-1-1 in Lone Star play, while St. Edward's moves to 3-3-2 overall and 1-0-1 in the conference.
How it Happened
St. Edward's opened the scoring when Arthur Souza scored in the 13th minute.
The Chaparrals evened the match on a goal from Nako Amare -- his second goal of the season -- in the 23rd minute. Amare stole the ball from a St. Edward's defender in the Hilltopper defensive zone, and it was a foot race to the goal, where Amare showcased his speed and converted on the tally.
St. Edward's went on top 2-1 on Easton Jones' 44th-minute goal, assisted by Jethro Vourjolo and Todd Fuller.
The Chaparrals leveled it at 2-2 with an 85th-minute goal from Geoffroy Letienne. Letienne tied Amare with two total goals this season, as they each co-lead the team. Francisco Horta assisted the goal, as he sent the ball deep into the St. Edward's box off a free kick. The goal capped the scoring in the game.

- Connor Pettigrew piled up two saves for the Chaparrals out of nine total Hilltoppers shots, as his record moved to 3-3-3.
- Lubbock Christian recorded a season-high 10 shots on goal. They out-shot SEU 10-5 in the category, marking their biggest shot differential of the season.
- The Chaps posted their third draw of the season. Last season, they set their single-season program record with seven draws.
- Letienne and Amare both netted their team leading second goals. Amare matches his goal total from last season and has four in his LCU career.
