ODESSA, Texas (October 9, 2024) -- Avery Jennings delivered Lubbock Christian University's first multi-goal performance of the season, leading the Lady Chaparrals to a 2-0 victory over UT Permian Basin Wednesday at UTPB Soccer Field. The win marked LCU's third consecutive shutout in Lone Star Conference play.
The Lady Chaps improved to 5-3-2 overall and 3-1-1 in Lone Star action following the win. In addition, this is the third victory in the last four matches for Lubbock Christian (unbeaten in all four games). UT Permian Basin fell to 3-3-2 and 1-2-1 in conference play following the loss. The Falcons have now lost back-to-back Lone Star Conference games since starting the season 1-0-1.
How it Happened
Lubbock Christian broke the scoreless 0-0 tie when senior Avery Jennings scored her fourth goal of the season in the ninth minute, assisted by freshman Ella Spiller. Spiller sent a crossing pass into the box, directly to Jennings, resulting in a 1-0 Lady Chap advantage. Jennings and the Lady Chaps grabbed a 2-0 advantage in the 55th minute with an unassisted goal for her fourth goal of the season,
The 2-0 score was held to the end of the game, despite the Falcons outshooting the Lady Chaps 8-0 to close the match.
