TYLER, Texas (November 1, 2024) – Powered by a standout performance from goalkeeper Megan Mirabal and a decisive goal from Claire Jacobson, Lubbock Christian University secured a 1-0 shutout victory over UT Tyler on Friday at the Citizens First Bank-Perkins Soccer Complex. The Lady Chaps extended their unbeaten streak to four matches and notched back-to-back road wins in Lone Star Conference play.
The win boosted Lubbock Christian's record to 8-5-3 overall and 6-3-2 in Lone Star action. Furthermore, the Lady Chaps launched into the third place slot in the Lone Star Conference standings with the victory. UT Tyler fell to 10-3-3 overall and 5-3-3 in conference play following the loss. In addition, the Patriots had their two-match win streak snapped and slip into a tie for fourth in the Lone Star Conference standings.
How it Happened
Lubbock Christian broke the scoreless draw when Claire Jacobson scored her third goal of the season in the 30th minute, assisted by Ella Spiller and Bonnie Miller.
Lubbock Christian and UT Tyler exchanged blows throughout the match, with the teams recording a near identical shot number, as Lubbock Christian held the slight 11-10 advantage.
As a result of strong defense and goalkeeping from both teams, neither team added another goal, and the game ended with a 1-0 shutout win for Lubbock Christian.
