LUBBOCK, Texas (November 15, 2024) – The Lubbock Christian volleyball team jumped out to a two-set lead, but couldn't hold on and fell 3-2 (25-20, 25-19, 20-25, 24-26, 8-15) to UT Tyler Friday at home in a Lone Star Conference match inside Rip Griffin Center.
The loss dropped Lubbock Christian's record to 13-12 overall and 9-6 in LSC action.
The Lady Chaps were led by a pair of double-doubles, as Kiana Fallaha registered 15 kills and 11 digs and Kayton Genenbacher posted 47 assists and 13 digs. Lily Bickley also added 15 kills to help the offense. On the defensive end, Leddy Rae Guinn chipped in for LCU with 20 digs to go with six blocks from Bryleigh Schweer.
UT Tyler improved to 17-6 overall and 14-1 in the LSC behind 24 kills from Kota Hartman. They also received 13 blocks from Dakota Rogers-Hurtado.
Game Notes
» Lubbock Christian had three players in double figures in kills. Fallaha and Bickley each had 15 kills and Payton Murray contributed 13 kills.
» Lubbock Christian had four players in double figures in digs. Freshman Leddy Rae Guinn led LCU with 20 digs for her seventh match of the season with at least 20 digs.
» Kiana Fallaha registered a double-double with 15 kills and 11 digs for sixth double-double of the season and 18th of her career.
» Lubbock Christian attackers were helped by a team-high 47 assists from Kayton Genenbacher, who garnered her 13th double-double of the season and the 37th of her career.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Lady Chaps opened up an early 1-0 match lead, winning the first set 25-20. Lubbock Christian overcame a 6-3 deficit with a 14-3 run for a 17-9 lead. Lily Bickley led LCU with four kills in the set, while UT Tyler's Kota Hartman had six in the frame.
SET 2 | Lubbock Christian won the second set 25-19 to quickly take a 2-0 lead. The Lady Chaps used a 6-2 run early to get into a position to lead 12-8, and later used a 7-2 to close out the frame. LCU had a 14-9 advantage in kills in the set.
SET 3 | Lubbock Christian couldn't finish off the sweep, losing the third set to place their match lead at 2-1. The Lady Chaps fell behind on the first point and never clawed back into the lead before falling in the set 25-20. Fallaha and Bickley each had four kills for LCU in the set.
SET 4 | Lubbock Christian then dropped their second straight set 26-24 to bring the match level at two sets apiece. The Lady Chaps came up short in a back-and-forth set, losing in a stanza that featured nine lead changes and was tied 18 times. Neither team opened up a lead of more than two points along the way. LCU was leading 23-21 before a 3-0 run by UTT prolonged the match. Hartman produced eight kills for UTT, while Payton Murray led LCU with five kills.
SET 5 | UTT jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the and the closest LCU would cut the deficit to was 9-7 before closing the match on a 6-1 run. The Patriots had 7.0 blocks in the set, with six by Rogers-Hurtado.
